Massage Guide

When it comes to massage styles, it can be unnerving to know where to even start. That’s why we’re starting with the basics. Read on for five common styles explained, and broken down for you.

Signature (Swedish)

Let’s start with the basics. Swedish massages are relaxation-based and focus on stress relief. Think long, flowy stokes. This style will also be customized to your pressure preferences. The goal of Swedish massage is to set your body to homeostasis a.k.a. your body’s center.

Deep Tissue

For more focused, therapeutic work, ask your therapist about Deep Tissue. You might benefit from this style if you have concentrated, specific issues you’d like to remedy. A common misconception about Deep Tissue is that the style must be very firm and intense. In fact, our therapists can use the therapeutic benefits of Deep Tissue without using hard or firm pressure.

MediCupping Vacuum Massage

MediCupping™ or vacuum therapy is beneficial in lifting and stretching soft tissue. It can release and soften scar tissue, open drainage systems, hydrate tissue and many other positive results. Even bones respond well to this innovative form of treatment. This suction reaches deep into the soft tissue, attachments and organs and also has a sedating effect on the nervous system. Another benefit is to pull inflammation and toxins from the body tissues so that the skin and lymphatic system can readily eliminate them. Scar tissue often releases quickly, despite the age of the injury or keloid tendencies. Learn More.
